You may assume that a “teleseminar” is simply training delivered
using audio-conference technology. This is partly correct.
Audio-conference technology does provide one aspect of the
training since a speaker phone is used. The training however
goes far beyond listening to a presenter reading material. The
sessions closely replicate the interaction and personal contact
found in seminars and small group face-to-face training.
Web-based support provides easy access to handouts and material
and PowerPoint slides offer a visual dimension to the
presentation. These training sessions are ideal for small groups of 4-6 persons, but also work well with one person or larger groups of 20 or more. Each TeleSeminar consists of three components: |
||
|
||
| Prior to the training, background information and handouts, including survey questionnaire and optional small group activities, will be sent to site coordinators and all participants. Participants are encouraged to get together 30 minutes before the training to review this information and identify questions or issues to add during the training. | ||
|
||
|
Interactive round-table exchanges between presenters, and later with participants, form the basis for the 90-minute sessions. PowerPoint slides guide the discussion to make the content easy to follow, informative, and engaging for visual as well as auditory learners. The slides are available in notes format to give participants pertinent information to enhance the learning process. An operator will be available throughout the TeleSeminar to take questions, cue participants into the Q&A segment or pass along comments and questions to the presenters. Email can
be used anytime during or following the training to submit
questions or comments at
teleseminars@pathfinderassociates.net.

Enhancing the exchange of information is one of our ongoing goals for each TeleSeminar. Following each training session discussion and interaction continue using email as well as an optional discussion blog to exchange information with others from across the country. |

Small Group Focus: Training that fosters easy exchange of information and perspectives is usually most effective in seminars and small group settings. TeleSeminars replicate this by providing pre-training activities for participants, building in interaction throughout the training, and enabling participants to continue discussions after the training. When it is possible to bring together several participants at one location for the TeleSeminar, the small group that is created can continue to work together to better look at local issues and needs. When groups do the TeleSeminar together a site coordinator will usually be identified who will collect information, lead discussion and assist with set-up and follow-up.
Continuing Education Credit: Anyone interested in continuing education credits (CEUs) for the training can simply complete the evaluation form and submit this to Pathfinder Associates. The CRCC form, with the training session code, will be emailed directly to you. Print out this form for your records, add your social security number and then send in for credit. Pathfinder Associates will keep a secured training record that includes your personal information to verify your completion of the training, however we will not email or send this out to anyone. There is no additional charge for CEUs.
Accessibility: Training materials are accessible and easily downloaded from the Pathfinder Associates website. The audio-conference portion of the training can also be broadcasted with real-time captioning for persons who are deaf and hard of hearing.

| Contact us to discuss developing a TeleSeminar program that will address program or agency needs. The TeleSeminar format works very well for statewide or regional implementation of new initiatives. Staff from Pathfinder Associates can serve as facilitators to give an external perspective that will assist state level and regional management to more easily address questions. |
