Small dog and large fire hydrant
Started in 1998, the high energy, fast-paced `Old Dogs’ sessions feature audience participation and training that focuses on contemporary issues found in the rehabilitation workplace. Typically delivered in two hours, these interactive workshops can be modified or expanded to meet specific needs.  The series initially focused on situations faced by many professionals who find themselves as part of the aging rehabilitation workforce but have expanded to look at topics and issues that cut across the entire rehabilitation spectrum.

Blending small and large group activities, the "Old Dogs" approach uses humor to deliver practical information and foster thought provoking discussions. In addition to enjoying this style of presentation, participants come away with information and handout materials that have direct impact.

New session on "ethics".

Old Dogs – Ethics and Your Pedigree: It’s Nothing to Sniff At

Takes participants through discussion and conversation about both real work and real work environment dilemmas that involve everyday ethical decisions which aren’t made easier because of the degree one may have earned. Session includes discussion of the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) 'Code of Professional Ethics'.  Handout materials include specific details on how to obtain not only copies of the Code but also other important documents for use by practitioners in the fields of rehabilitation.

Catch this session at the National Rehabilitation Association Conference in Alexandria, Virginia at the Hilton Hotel - Mark Center in October!

Other Old Dog Workshops:

Old Dogs – Looking for New Owners?

Growling about the stock market, contemplating retirement – or ‘un-retirement’, or simply exploring other new work-life options? We have participants individually reviewing their employment situations vis-à-vis personal growth and professional opportunities in public and private rehabilitation.

Old Dogs – New Tricks?!

The rehabilitation fields are facing interesting challenges – including those of available manpower, changing demographics, and technological advances – not to mention the oft referred to ‘paradigm shifts’.  We’ll have you assess your requisite and transferable skills and match those up with the workplace opportunities and offerings being made available.  Then, you can predict if and how you will match up.

Old Dogs Go Back to the Future:  Assessment, Technology and Community Resources

Take an interactive journey from various early practices in the field to those of today - to review not only what has worked, but note what hasn’t been successful, share personal experiences and then look at how consumers are using current resources to reach employment goals.

Old Dogs Barking Up New Trees

Nearing retirement and completion of a rehab career, baby boomers suddenly need to evaluate their own vocational futures.  Training workshop poses questions, as well as providing ideas and insights, to those considering and concerned about retirement.

Old Dogs, New Tricks, and Training Puppies – Rehabilitation in the New Millennium.

Review and consider the future skill and training needs resultant from potential impacts on the fields of rehabilitation in the ‘New Millennium’ due to fears such as:  new laws, new technology, mergers & acquisitions, an aging population, and aging practitioners.
