Rehabilitation technology services, often referred to as assistive technology or AT services, are a core rehabilitation service that all vocational rehabilitation programs have a mandate to provide. TECHPOINTS is a technology management and training strategy developed for vocational rehabilitation (VR) agencies. TECHPOINTS provides vocational rehabilitation counselors, managers and supervisors and technology specialists with an easy to follow reference to help determine when and how to use technology resources and services with individual clients.
TECHPOINTS can be used to:
-
help new counselors get started using technology services;
-
help experienced counselors manage technology services more efficiently;
-
give ideas on how to systematically consider technology options;
-
suggest how to approach consumers about potential technology needs;
-
integrate technology services into routine VR case management practice; and,
-
ensure that expenditures for technology-related devices are appropriate.
