 Reaching Successful Employment Outcomes with Rehabilitation Technology

 

Pathfinder Associates is pleased to announce new eLearning training for vocational rehabilitation counselors and other staff in vocational rehabilitation agencies and community rehabilitation programs.  The online eLearning format is ideal for programs and agencies with ongoing staff development training needs.   

"Tech Points" should be integrated into all key phases of the rehabilitation process.

This helps counselors to consider rehabilitation technology and job accommodation needs and possibilities throughout the rehabilitation process.  Effective use of these resources will help to expand choices and options, especially for persons with severe disabilities, and lead to improved employment outcomes overall.  This also helps rehabilitation agencies take an overall look at rehabilitation technology resources and services that may be needed.       

Vocational rehabilitation counselors are not expected to be technology experts.  However, VR counselors have the primary responsibility to:

  • identify possible need for rehabilitation technology services;

  • determine how these resources can be used to enhance employment outcomes; and,

  • know where they can go for additional information and assistance.

Introducing TECH POINTS can be used as a free-standing training resource or as an introduction to the complete TECH POINT training series.  The other seven modules address how to effectively use rehabilitation technology and accommodation options at each of the key points in the rehabilitation process.  Each module takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.

Training modules can be loaded on program or agency learning management system (LMS); housed on your website; or emailed to participants by your training staff.  Pathfinder Associates can also host training modules on our website.

Accessibility
All training modules include audio narration and text transcript of training content.  Photographs and graphics have text descriptions.  

CEU Credits
Each training module contains Knowledge Check quizzes that verify completion of the training modules and measure mastery of training content.  Arrangements can be made for 1.5 CEU credits through the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) for the training.

The TECH POINTS training modules can be customized to include information on actual sources of rehabilitation technology resources and services used in programs or agencies, including direct links to agency procedures, policies and guidelines.  This ensures that staff have a clear understanding of how to approach the delivery and utilization of rehabilitation technology. 

Adding specific information that is unique to individual programs and agencies will increase the effectiveness of the training.  Audio or video messages from staff, consumers or employers can also be added.
